• Khalij Pheasants one of the common birds found in India are distributed around the foothills of the Himalayas including Nepal, Bhutan, Thailand and Myanmar.
• They are a distant relative of the silver pheasant. They are neither too big nor too small in size and weigh about one kilogram. These birds are mostly black in colour and tend to have arched tail feathers unlike female, which are slightly brownish.
