What is a Group Discussion?
Group Discussion Plays an very important role in the process of short-listing an individual for admission in MBA, Selection of Probationary Officers in Banking Sector, IAS, IPS, BPO, etc,.

The Parameters that plays a crucial role for success in Group Discussion are Listening Skills, Communication Skills, Leadership Qualities, subjective knowledge on current affairs and General Awareness, Creativity, Reasoning Skills, Candidate Ability to work in a Group, Flexibility to adopt to the Situation, interpersonal relationship,decision-making skills, Personality, etc,.
Generally in a process of Group Discussion there may be 10 to 15 students or even more seated in a circular or Rectangular arrangement with or without table and discussion lasts for 15-20 minutes. Experts are going to evaluate the Discussion Process and have the right to stop it at the fixed time or before. From each candidate An Oral Summary or Written is asked at the end of the session. The Time duration varies and it depends on the Type of Topic assigned.
Group Discussion is of 3 types:
1. Topic Based Group Discussion: In This type of Group Discussion Candidates are supposed to discuss on a specific topic related to Politicial, Economical issues, Social issues, knowledge based, Movies, Information Technology, Abstract, Controversial, Sports,etc,.
2. Case Studies Group Discussion: In this type of G.D. Information or short description about the situation which is probably a problematic one is assigned to the candiates. They need to present their views in a way to develop a solution for that problem whether it is a right one or wrong one is not going to be counted.
3. Group Tasks: In this type of group Discussion candidates should be assigned a task to test the skills of candidates of how well they are going to achieve specific objectives as a group.

1. Always Remembers that Group Discussion cannot be learned from book,. you need to practice a lot with a group of related people of your knowledge and analyze your Performance from experts.
2. Display proper positive Body Language like by dressing formally, use of formal language, maintaining good posture, etc,. Try to be Natural.
3. Try to maintain Smile always on your face and establish Eye to Contact while speaking to others members of the group., Don't be aggressive. Speak clearly and in a Friendly Manner while expressing your ideas. Also listen to the ideas of others too and also at the same time respect their Views on a Topic assigned. Finally Conclude the Discussion only when the Group asks to do so.
4. Be Confident and don't draw too much on personal experience. Your views should be brief & concise.
5. If any Participant disagress with you don't take it as an offence, instead respect his views on the topic. Don't try to dominate or intimidate others. Never interrupt other participants while they are expressing their views on a particular topic in the Group Discussion,.
6. Always Address Other Members of the Group as Sir/Madam, Mr./Ms.,Excuse me!,(By number),(By first name).
Group Discussion is very valuable; Group Drafting is less productive.
